In his weekly presidential report card, pollster John Zogby finds that President Obama is so far looking like he will avoid the pitfalls of past August summer breaks and he starts on a high with his successful trip to Africa.

"It is now August — traditionally President Obama's cruelest month — and things are looking pretty good for him.

"He had a triumphant trip to Africa and is now pretty much out of the news cycle. News is dominated by one Republican candidate — although there are rumors that there are 15 others, most of which we'll see in the first GOP primary debate next week.

"Mr. Obama's former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, is having some polling difficulties, while there is a lot of buzz about Vice President Joe Biden jumping in the race.

"Meanwhile the president's poll numbers are still okay and he continues to lobby Congress for his Iran deal. But the president is looking better than most."
